The whole concept of freshman classes being purposefully overwhelming to "weed out" the students was a shock for me to grasp when I started college 9 years ago. I got more career training and experience by my own will and determination than I did from my university, despite having to invest so much in a "meritocracy" that promises more than it can deliver in this day and age. It's all very confusing and frustrating. I still haven't finished my Bachelor's degree.
