I remember moving to the Washington, D.C. area and not having a clue where to hang out after work to relax and meet people. With so many young professionals having to relocate for internships and jobs today, I thought it was time to create a resource for people in exactly that position. (In case you haven’t noticed already, when I see a void, I fill it!) Enter ThirdSpaces.
Everyone has three spaces. Where you live — your home — is your first space. Where you work is your second space. Your third space is that other place you like to hang out when you’re not at home or work.
ThirdSpaces focuses only on reviewing and recommending those — you guessed it — third spaces for twentysomethings. Maybe you’ve just moved to a new town after college for a job. Or perhaps you’re simply looking for a new hangout. Whatever the case may be, I hope you find your third space here — and recommend some for others.
Let’s get to the contest.
Does your city have some awesome third spaces? Make sure you add yours to the site soon to declare your town as a “hot spot for hot spots” for young professionals.
The contest will start June 1, 2010 and run through July 31, 2010. Each third space must have at least one short review with a rating to be included in the tally for that city. The city with the most highly rated third spaces will be locally, regionally, and nationally publicized and receive a badge for their city’s main website that also can be shared with residents for their own websites.
I am also considering other prizes, such as a party for you and your closest friends at your third space. Do you have other (reasonable) prize suggestions? Is your city willing to donate (or help donate) the prize? Leave a comment for a chance to be featured and recommend your favorite third space now.
